Had new t/a's installed yesterday. Mech. said I need a new castle nut for the outer strut rod/shock mount. Said bubba found a way to destroy the nut and leave the threads on the stud perfect. Is this a 5/8 fine thread? Can barely get my calipers on it. Thanks.

Mine looks to be a 7/16 fine thread. The hex on the nut is 11/16.

Tried it again with the calipers getting between the castles on the nut and getting near .612", looking more like 5/8", takes a 15/16" wrench.

That's the trailing arm pivot bolt. The one I'm referring to is the outer strut rod fastener.

It is a 5/8-18 slotted nut. 15/16 hex.

Go to www.mcmastercarr.com and search for 95030A250. Looks like $4.45 for 10 of them. You may be able to get them individually. I buy lots of hardware and materials from them. 95% of the time the stuff shows up the next day and they really get good rates on shipping (much better than I get).

While you are on their site, try there search engine. You will end up buying a bunch of other stuff

Doh, sorry about that. I didn't read your post close enough. McMaster-Carr is a great place to get fasteners or find a local fastener supply house.

Thanks guys for the assistance. Was at a buddies and had him look in his stuff and lo and behold....there was ONE! Yep, been to mcmastercarr, great place. Dealt with them in the past. Hillco Fastener Warehouse in Garden Grove, CA is another great place. Lot's of hard to find factory fasteners of all types.

I've been using Hillco for a long time. They even carry Bowtie chrome bolts that you can purchase individually. And about any kind of stainless fastener that you can think of. Great place and nice people to deal with too!
