In fact, now that I think of it, it might have been a lot less than 2 seconds!
Last Sunday I finally managed to convince a very reluctant wife to accompany me to a car show.
After a lot of bickering and bitching she reluctantly got in the car.
Just as she was about to buckle her seat belt a mouse scampered out from somewhere under the dash and ran up her right leg.
That's where the "zero to 60" comes in.
She gave a blood-curdling scream as I passed the better part of a cup of coffee through my nose.
Now, because the mouse had made it's exit between her and the door, instinct dictated the best path of eagress was through the driver's side window. The fact that my foot had already slipped off the clutch and I was firmly seatbelted in place was of little significance
I still can't figure out how she made it to the house and locked the door before I could even get out of the car.
Perhaps it was because I was laughing so hard.
(Oh well, so much for any future car shows.)
Anyway, I'm wondering what the rest of you hibernators do to prepare your true loves (your Vettes) for winter storage. Up here in New England we're facing at least five months of abstinence (driving the Vette) and would appreciate any advice concerning this situation (the mouse).
Now, if I could only stop laughing, maybe she'll unlock the door..... (grin)
ok, I finally stopped laughing so now I can type. For hibernation here in N.D. (which can be 6-7 months long) I drive her (the vette) until the ground is covered in snow... she really likes the cooler temps and runs stronger than ever... yesterday was 31 and today is even cooler.. then into the gargage until some little projects are finished.. then storage. Lucky I don't have to worry about mice, they don't live when the temp drops below 20 degrees or so.. last winter we hit -45 and wind chills over -110 below.. (f). need the gargage space too bad to occupy it with the car I cannot drive with snow on the ground.

Re: Zero to 60 in 2 secs. (BubbaJJ)
I would be putting mouse bait in the car for one thing -- kill those bastards off. They can do very serious damage to the wiring and the insulation of a car !!
Good story. Your lucky you didn't lose anything while she was climbing out the window. Could you get a re-enactment and catch it on video. Could become a best seller. I was very sceptical when you said zero to 60 in under 2 seconds but now I believe.
Thanks for the laugh
The mouse was probably feeding on the spiders. You'd better bug-bomb your car before this nursery-rhyme reaches its tragic ultimate conclusion. Can you imagine stuffing a *horse* in there?
Since the spider post I've learned my lesson...after having a nice chuckle and thinking "gee, how silly/stupid" I went outside and got in my car to listen to the stereo, almost putting my hand on a *huge* arachnid . I now do spider checks and for security reasons no longer attempt Dukes-of-Hazzard-style entrances. Out of precendent I'll probably be more cautious about mice, too... :D
To keep out the little rascals, we use moth *****. We'd make up little packets with an old rag, put some moth ***** in, and tie it up with a zip tie. Then scatter them throughout the car. In exhaust pipes, around the engine bay, around interior.... makes for a fun spring. Get the kids ready for the Easter egg hunt. :D
I can say that this would have been an embarrasing moment if MY wife had seen a mouse while I was shooting the pic of my car. Anyway I had mice in mine a few years back. Put in a glue trap and had em all in 24 hours. These are great but make sure you put paper under them in case they flip over. Will not come off carpet. :flag
