I was wondering Rochester/Holley look so different in design, are the working principals also different? Is there somewhere a good comparison between the working internals or is there somebody who can give me a simple explanation?
Both carburetors operate on the same venturi principle. That's about where it stops. The Rochester actually meters fuel into the engine. The Holley just sorta dumps it in where ever it can. The Quadrajet uses jets, metering rods and air bleeds to meter fuel accuratly. The Holley uses jets, dump valves and pseudo emulsion tubes to sorta do the same thing.
If you really want to see the differences get some books on each and compare. You think the Rochester and Holley are different, look up Weber carburetors.
