Looking at your picture of the cutout under your console, I do not believe you have cut enough away. Because that section of your console is an indentation, I believe you will have to remove the complete indented section. Otherwise there will not be enough clearance between the shift linkage of the TKO and the tunnel.
They could have included a template..... a piece of cardboard doesn't cost much...
I only cut the bottom of this indention. Do you think there's enough room to cut more after the trans is in place ??
I don't think you will get the transmission in place because the tail shaft will not go up high enough. It will hit on the indentation. Also it looks like your cut is not far enough forward for the shift linkage to come up through. If you look at my web page, you will see where I cut out the entire indentation and then fabricated a piece with the correct hole size which also accepts the rubber boot.
yup... you're paying for the convinience .... you could easily safe $1000 or more if you buy the parts from Summit/Jegs/junkyards and so on.... that includes cutting and re-welding your driveshaft, fabricating a trans mount.... lots of work

The piece that you cut out looks smaller than what I cut out. Are the tunnel indentions the same on our cars ??
I don't have a problem cutting more as it will be covered by the aluminum plate (that Keisler did not include in their kit) anyways...
In hindsight, I did not make a template of that plate. The next time I have the side off my console I will make one. Obviously, that is no help to you.
If you take a piece of cardboard for a template and roughly cut it to span over the bolts that hold the automatic bracket down, then go under the car and scribe the hole you have under it. If you then take the rubber boot and lay it over the template, remark the hole using the boot as a template. You then should have a pretty good idea of the location.
Thanks, I'm really happy with the result... not bad for the poor boy's paintjob: wirebrush and rattle can
I have a small sandblaster but didn't really see the need for perfection here.... time to get this conversion done , can't wait to drive the car again...
To help get the hole in the floor board correct for the shifter, I purchased a stock lower rubber shifter boot (not the pretty one in the console) and used it as a template. It helps keep the noise/fumes/heat as well.
The pedals are definitely the worst part of the job when going from an auto to a manual. I didn't completely convert over to a manual assembly. I just bought the clutch pedal, new pivot bushings, and modified the factory auto brake pedal using some aftermarket racing pedals.
