I went with a new set of poly body mounts from eckler's. My question is I read somewhere that you have to lube up the mounts before instalation or you will get a squeeking noise. is this true.
That is what the instructions said for my poly bushings. In the past, I only had sway bar poly bushings - I bought poly A-arm bushings years ago and never installed them because I heard horror stories of the squeaking. Now I just recently did all polys except for the body mounts - I stayed with the aluminum - as I felt they are better than poly
Use the proper poly bushing grease, it's available from AutoZone. What brand are those Eckler's mounts? If they're Prothane, the company has a bad reputation around here for ill-fitting bushings. Summit has the ES Corvette mounts for about $50.
They are the prothane oops my bad. I did notice they are a smigion shorter than stock rubber ones. I thought that might be a bonus because they can almost slide in without jacking the body up and it would lower the stance a bit. I just wanted to replace the old rubber ones with a bushing that will be there for a while. On my control arms I did go with a rubber set and the replacement job wasnt as bad as I thought.
body mounts don't move so what would make them squeak?
I bet they move a tiny bit against the body and frame mounts. A little bit of sticky poly grease against between the mounts and metal would be cheap insurance.
I have been told that the top mount is supposed to go THROUGH the frame mount? Is this true, or does the top bushing just sit on top? How exactly are these things installed, I got no instruction sheet with my kit.

Or just buy a big tube of silicone grease. That's all it is.
Im in the same boat with mine. Ive got the mounts, but how complicated is the install? Can I just pull out one mount at a time and have some buddies lift the car at the mounting points as I slide in the bushing and the shims?
Or is it as comlicated as unbolting all of them, the steeing shaft, Master Cylnder, and AC to be able to lift the body at any any point to get the bushings in?
