I started to remove the interior of my '69 so I could replace the carpet and replace the heater core while I was at it. I have run into a slight snag with the console removal. My car is a non-AC car and I need to remove the little ***** for the vents that are on the console. I think they are secured by some very small allen screws; similar to the one that holds the wiper over ride **** on.
I tried Home Depot for the small Allen key set but the closest I could get was a set that had a 1/16 wrench and then it went to a .050" wrench; one was too big, the other too small.
Does anyone know the correct size for this allen screw and where can I find such a small set?
Yea, that's the big question; what size allen wrench does that screw accept? I have a set of allen wrenchs and bought a set yesterday that had smaller sizes but, still don't have the right wrench.
I can't beleive that nobody on the site has removed a console or installed a new wiper override switch ****. They would need this same size wrench to do this.
I just went out and checked on my 69 and it uses the 1/16th in allen wrench. If you push the **** all the way foreward the allen wrench will be parallel with the console face when it is in the head of the bolt. Also a ball end allen wrench is easier to get into the screw. GL

Thank you very much; now I can continue with my project.
