Default Amp Gauge

My Amp Gauge is pegging with a small load I have all new wire harnesses and all new gauges, I have checked every connection and every ground at least three times any slight load peggs it out. Did the originals use those little resisters across the terminals?

There is no resistor accross a C3 amp gage.

It sounds like the large (red I think) wire that runs from you alternator to the starter's main (large battery cable) terminal. That would cause all current to flow through your amp gage, something that it is not designed to handle.

Only a small percentage of current is meant to flow through a C3's amp gage.

Man! Free advice is priceless. You made my day, your post jarred my memory as ther was one large non wrapped red wire that I had connected to the power window relay up on the firewall. This wire actually goes to the horn relay on the inner fenderwell next to the steering box. When I relocated it the AMP gauge started working normally. Thanks a million Stickshift, I owe you one.

You have a voltmeter, not an ammeter.

Cracked. We changed it while we were changing the rear main seal. Went with an aftermarket shaft with steel coupling recommended by Iron Cross.
