Default Looking for temp sensor for 72

What I am looking for is a sensor that will work with my existing gauge but will fit a smaller 1/4 or 3/8 NPT hole.

I think the stock unit is 1/2" NPT. To damn big for most modern instrument ports. I purchased a smaller unit but it did not work at all. I don't want to get new gauge because I already have to many new gauges strapped to my steering column and no, I don't want to remove the gauge panel to replace to old one. Rather have a rectal exam by the Jolly Green Giant than remove that again.

what style connector and sender terminal are you wanting to use? Dr Rebuild offers senders for most of the C1/C2/C3 years. I ultimately moved my original temp sender to my intake manifold as my DART cyl heads would accomodate only the smaller sender and I didn't want to mess with trying to find a smaller sender that would work with my old L48's system. Is that an option for you? Most aftermarket intakes have 1/2" NPT holes in the water passages. I removed my thermal sensors (control vacuum) so I used a resulting 1/2" NPT hole in the intake's water passage that leads to the thermostat housing.

Yes, that is what I am doing now, but I am looking to switch to an intake that does not have one that size. I could overobore it but would prefer not to.

With stock heads, just use the stock sensor in the head. I have L98 with aluminum heads and I just used an 82 sending unit (3/8), it reads pretty close in my car. I also think 'Lectric Limited has a 3/8 that will work.

My 69's oil pressure gauge appears to be fed by the old fashioned method; mechanically via oil in a plastic line running from a brass fitting attached to the rear of the engine just behind the distributor/intake manifold. As for the rest... water and battery get signals via wiring and tach is mechanically driven from the base of the distributor.

OIL = Mechanical (line to top of block behind distributor)
WATER = Electrical (sensor in Driver side head)
