This is just my opinion, but given the opportunity I would go with the C4 suspension. Aluminum arms, R&P steering, etc. Take advantage of the newer technology.

If you're just concerned about the ride, rather than the handling, a soft C3 suspension would work fine. If you want handling, the C4 is the way to go. But, would you be buying a C4 modified frame, or doing it yourself? Modifying the frame is a lot of work (ask me how I know). What is your goal here?

The VB&P dual-mount rear spring and the front monospring are similar in theory to the C4 springs.

it's not about the springs, the C4 has far superior geometry (although the front susp. is set uo for their kind of wheels w/ the kingpin angle) and more importantly (apart from leight weight) the rear has superior toe control (camber control is identical in design concept)

All true, but the VB&P springs get you closer to the C4 design without having to buy a C4 to steal the suspension.

? How, with the leaf spring? It's a spring, sure..the leaf spring acts different from the coil spring and also works kind of as a sway bar but other than that, very little changes. Kingpin ange stays the same, suspension geometry stays the same, same applies for the rear. The real benefit in C4 susp. lies in the improved geometry and the C is a big step forwards again from the C4. The guy is ordering a frame, might as well do it right then, no sense in sticking with 1950s suspension stuff.

C4 rear suspension a lot different much better in design then C3
don't even consider a C3 if you have the choice it was a poor
design even back in 63. But if money is no object the C5 rear
suspension is the E ticket ride.

Go with C5 front and C4 rear suspension. A lot of the custom frame builders are using this.

the C5 front susp is not very different from the C4, and I think the C5 stuff is cast, the C4 stuff is forged. I'd rather have C4 front and C5 rear (or C5 front and rear)

The problem with a C5 rear is trying to fit it in the existing body. It is so big in the rear that a lot of custom work to the body is needed.

cut off the battery boxes...you'll have a lot of room then for the suspension (leaving out the diff/transaxle)

Why would you even consider C3, unless you are going for originality?

Go with the latest tech.... C5, if money is not an issue.
