Default Radiator cleaning

Hi to all of you. Recently a Corvette buddy mentioned that he had heard of a cleaning technique to help remove light to medium precipitate build-up in his radiator. The gist of it was to add a bit of laundry detergent to your radiator and go for a drive. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I was surprised to say the least. So my neighbor and I start talking about this (he is a Corvette owner too) and we were wondering why dishwasher soap wouldn't do just as well, if not better? Any comments here? Don't worry, there isn't any way I am going to do this to my original 31 year old LT1 radiator!

Gary

In fact, the cleaning technique I have heard of is to use dishwasher detergent, which is typically a very low sudsing powder. I think clothes laundry detergent might suds too much..... but will give you whiter whites! :) MJ

I have used Lime-Away in the past. It does a kick butt job.

Remember, if you clean a radiator, you may end up having to repair / recore it since ithe scale sometimes holds it together!

I used two bottles of that CLR stuff a year ago and ran the engine for about 50 miles. Seemed to work OK!
