T5 install..Clutch problem!
(meant to be funny). We also enjoy helping others. I would like to see the adapter plate if you use it. We don't have a monopoly on how to accomplish any of the mods we seek and love seeing new and better ways to do them; cheaper too!Bernie
I now have the best of both worlds, I can burn the tires till the cows come home and I figure I will cruse at 70mph at about 2000 rpm or less!
I can't tell for sure 'cause I have no interior except for a drivers seat!
It shifts supper smooth with short throws. A total pleasure to drive.
So let me add my name to the list of those that say "It's the best mod I have made to my car yet"
The clutch chatter has almost disappeared but I will probably have to drop it one more time to shorten the pivot stud. No biggie!! I may have the flywheel resurfaced again also at that time.
I still say that this is what should be done to all manual trans 'Vettes
Except for the NCRS crowd of course!
This car is going to be so much fun to drive...I am rejuvenated!!!
Now I have to shorten my body mount bushings and do some body work so I can prep for paint and get some color on this thing!!
All my chrome and stainless should be back in about a month and I want the car to be done and ready for those parts when they arrive.
By the way Bernie I don't remember if I told you I picked up a new drive shaft for $200.00 3" tube with 1310 Spicers all new stuff and it looks sweet. I love the look of clean unpainted metal on my car! Just some clear coat to keep it from rusting!
Thank you again to everyone for their help in this swap. I'm sorry it took so long, but it's done now and that is all that matters!
And to Bernie and Norval a special thank you to both of you! with out you I doubt that I would have even started this mod!!!
Hey Bernie do I get my Caveman certification now???

Since you had almost as much difficulty as I did, you are now officially a
"Certified Caveman"!
I have never heard anyone say less than superlative remarks on this modification. No matter how you do it, it transforms a C3 into a real sports muscle car.
I'm glad you like the transformation; sounds like you might have gotten 10 years younger yourself!

My plan for this summer is to drive .....with some minor tinkering in between. Then in the off months hopefully I can save enough to have the body work done(all the gaps especially) and then paint next spring.(The paint I want to do myself)I may put the interior in...I'm not sure yet.
Thanks for the attaboy seaside!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Norval!
And again a BIG THANK YOU to my mentor BERNIE....The original CAVEMAN!!!! I would have had a much more difficult time without you!
By the way, I did my interior myself. It is so easy, well you know......
Bernie
Thanks for the kick in the pants!
And Bernie, you should have seen me. I took the Nader bolts out when I was trying to align the doors. So I got creative and used bungee cords to secure the doors. As I was going home I made a Right turn onto my road and the drivers door started to open, so I grabed it just in time to look up and see a county cop about 200 yards in front coming the other way!
Thankfully he didn't stop me. But that was me ....Left turn ....pass door would open a little! Right turn and the drivers door would do the same!
I figure I put on about 60 miles that way!!!!!
