I have a set of pistons and rods that I believe came out of a 69 350 350hp. I Have been told the "pink" rods came with either "0" or "B" on the rod caps but I have not been able to confirm the "B". Does anyone know for sure that "B" was also sometimes on these rods instead of "0".

I don't remember. But I do know the Pink Rods were the killer deal at the time.
Ive talked to a guy selling a new set that he has had for about 15 years that are still in the original package and he says his have the pink paint but the letter "B" onthe caps?? Anyone else ever seen the "B" on the pink rods?

The B rods were mostly used in trucks in the later 1970's and earlier 1980's. They are not the original pink rods. There was X rods also from the early 1970's to the later 1970's. Chevrolet kept changing their contacts. The L-82's had the X ones in the beginning. Not sure if the very first L-82's had the O's inside or not but never took one apart with them there. All the L-82's I ever worked on had the X's.
The pink O rods were in the LT-1's and the 1969 Z-28's, only exception was with the hi-perf crate motors through the parts depts.
The post above from Harry is fairly accurate. The "O"'s were in the 350/370HP units along with the DZ-302's. These were the only units to the best of my knowledge also that used the "O"'s back at the time. I have no way to really confirm it all 100%, but from the units I've done here AND the resto's I do here now, it's accurate.
At this time I have a bunch of these "O" rods and X's as well in inventory due to the fact many of the "resto's" are getting upgraded to strokers. My customers don't care about the rods/cranks inside the units, they want HP, period. I have to give them 450+ HP on pump and still maintain appearances. It's easy with the strokers.
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. I'm not about to turn this into a sales platform, but as I stated above I do have a bunch of the rods AND steel cranks on the shelf. If I can help anyone with either the rods and/or cranks I have here you are welcome to get back to me behind the scenes!
Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and buy a set of quality connecting rods from Manley or Crower before you regret the decision to run "Pink Rods". The GM HP rods were only select forgings picked for their small balance pads and then X-rayed for flaws and shot-peened on the side beams. The steel used in these rods is not what you want for a HP high RPM motor. I wouldn't pay $50 for a set of "Pink Rods" for my motor.

I had a over the counter (GM) 72 LT-1 short block that I bought in 74. It had "B" pink rods. I have finally replaced them with 6" Scat rods.
