Default Idler arm replacement or not??

I have the idler arm unbolted from the frame when I removed the oil pan. Not really sure if it is bad - looks to be the original. How do I determine wear? Would I notice any more precision in steering with a new one?

May be difficult to gage wear with it off car.
Suggest you get a new one ... it'll probably help.
Suggest you get one locally and in MOOG brand ... MOOG's the best & only few $ more than white box.

Do you have to replace the whole idler arm, or just the bushings?

Bolt it back up to the frame. Then, grab a tire/wheel and move the tire/wheel back and forth. If the idler arm allows vertical movement of the centerlink, it's bad and should be replaced. If there is no movement, you gain nothing by replacing it.

The idler arm is serviced & replaced as an assembly. The bushings are not servicable.
