I converted mine by stripping the parts off of a junked 4 speed car. Coverted it in the driveway, hardest part was fabricating up a clutch crosshaft mount. The links mentioned above show the process pretty well.
If you do it "my" way as opposed to a kit, remember to take enough of the the junker's wiring harness so you can easily and properly wire up things like the reverse light switch and the switch that only allows you to start when the clutch is depressed.
I did it about 15 years back, no problems since.
Have fun.

I did my '70 last year (Muncie M20). I compiled a complete parts list with sources and prices as well as a written chronology of the job. PM or email me and I'll send it to you.

I''m in the process of doing this as well. I see that the latest C3 had a bracket that was "bolt on" for the clutch cross shaft. I wander if I could use that bracket and drill through hoes into the frame for bolts. Did you weld your bracket onto the frame?

Hi J-V,
A very good question!
But you've re-opened a thread that's more than 10 years old.
Bruce C hasn't been active since 2009.... he may not see your post.
You might want to send him an e-mail to get his attention and a reply!
Or, you could start a new thread of you're own and you'll get the attention of folks currently active on the Forum.
Regards,
Alan

I would like a copy of your chronology of the auto to manual project.
