Keisler Linkage Question
Driving today and gear shifter seems like its not connected to trans. I was able to get the trans into 3rd and limped home. Has anyone had this problem and can I attack from the top by removing the console or do I have to drop trans.
I know the shifter came loose from the main linkage.

It sounds like the ball socket joint has slipped off the bottom of the lever. You should be able to take off the dust cap held on with the two phillips screws and see what happened. Hopefully the linkage is only disconnected there and you will be able to hook it back up again. I am not sure why it would disconnect there unless the two allen head screws backed out.
