Can the body mount bushing (rubber) be changed without lifting the body completly off? I've been soaking the body mount bolts over the last week and gave them a trial turn. To my amazement all of the bolts started backing out.

In short,,yes is the answer. Your going to have to disconect the rag joint of the steering and the grounding cable that is attached on the #1 mount drivers side,,, and also remove the bolts that attach the master cylinder to the fire wall. Jack up slowlly and only as high as you need. Oh ya,,, the bumpers are also attached to the body, you may have to unbolt these as well. I may have overlooked some things but if you jack the car about 14inchs you will see all the things you must do.
Billbaloneey,
I changed all the body mounts on my 81 about 3 years ago. Its no big deal. If you want you can email me at rcooper1hvc.rr.com and I will send you the step by step directions I have. I am not sure if your car is the same as the 81 but it should be close.
