After finishing my swap to a T5 I seem to have 2 different noises....The first is noise from the throw out brng. No noise until I depress the clutch, then I get a whirring sound that changes pitch with eng. RPM in gear with clutch depressed(Standing still) This sounds like a throw out brng problem to me, what do you guys think???
The second noise is a chattering sound till the clutch fully grabs. This only happens when I take off from a dead stop in 1st and reverse.
Never had a chatter problem on any trans I ever changed, so this is new to me! Flywheel is resurfaced however I may have some spray paint over spray on the fly.
I hope this will take care of itself.
What do you guys think???
Thanks!!!
SOunds to me like your T/O bearing is toast. Years ago I was working in a truck repair shop- some brilliant engineer decided they could save some $$ by using 6 ball bearings in the T/O's instead of 12. We changed lots of brand new bearings.
As far as the chatter, the paint will burn off in a flash, but oil won't. And the disc could be warped a bit or sticking on the input shaft. If teh clutch is new, it could be you haven't burned the fuzz off the disc yet too. Sometimes the discs' lining is glazed.
Brand new T.O brng . Not even a mile on it!! However when I installed it I had to have the clutch fingers touching the T.O. brng,
in order for the clutch to release. Do you think that as the clutch wears in either of these noises will go away???
