I am considering (again) installing roller rockers from Trick Flow on my mostly stock 77 350 engine. Can anyone advise if this is a straight forward as it seems? Is it unwise to do this and leave the stock pushrods in place? Should the studs be replaced for any reason.
Do I stay with stock ratio or go up one?
The friction reduction and increased precision of valve operation coupled with low cost make this upgrade very attractive to me.
I can't see any gain with just rockers to make it worth the effort. Even going to 1.6 rockers won't add a thing. There are lots of additions you can make that will help more than rockers. save the rocker $$ and do something that'll make a real difference..
And fill out a profile. Are we looking at a LT-1 or L-48?

On an otherwise "mostly stock 77 350", there are better places to spend the money that will give you more noticeable benefits. Save the roller rockers until after you get done adding all the bigger chunks of performance.
with everyone else, also if you did decide to do this then you are looking at new push rods possibly anyways cause of the measurement differences. Especially if you go up in ratio.
I would do the exhaust, carb, intake, camshaft first in that order, then worry about the little stuff.
Exhaust done, Q jet rebuilt, timing addressed, breathing addressed (air filter). The engine operates flawlessly and has alot of power now (to me) But, ya get used to it and always want more, SO, the question now is:
A. Install a N0S kit, the type that uses a plate above the carb throat, with 50 hp increase setting.
B. Or, install a performance intake (keeping the Q jet) along with cam and new lifters.
Obviously, I will end up doing both sooner or later, but which of the two would hold me the longest and be the least stressful to the engine.
And by the way, how much to fill the nitrous tank.....how quickly is it depleted?
As always, thanks for your input. I think the engine should be a L-88.
I think you are better off installing the Summit 1103 cam kit and maybe a new intake compatible with your Q-jet before you add a 50-100 shot of Nitrous.
