Default Flushing Question

I am replacing my radiator and wanted to flush out all the out liquid from the block.

My radiator, waterpump and thermostat are out.

Can I stick a hose in the thermostat opening in the intake manifold and have all old fluid come out the waterpump ports in the block?

That would get most of it out. After you have it reassembled go to GM and get their cooling system flush, its a powder you add to the system and run it for a bit to clean the system out.

Might want to pull the drain plugs out of each side of the block also. A lot of times, sludge will collect in the bottom of the water jackets.

I agree with pulling the plugs in the sides of the block. This will drain the block quickly. You may have to use a screwdriver to break through the buildup when you pull the plug though.
