I already have an aluminum pump(long) and am going to get chrome pullies for it.
I think you'll run into too many problems. You'll have to have a longer crank pulley, which might interfere with the front cross member. The brackets for the alt and power steering pumps will also have to be modified or spaced considerably.
Note: Be careful of the sold mount flex fans. I have seen a few scatter and punch holes through hoods and fenders.

Don't do it.
As said ... most ... if not ALL (crank, PS, ALT, AC) other brackets/pulleys will have to be changed.
Plenty Al short pumps on feebay for under $75 ... you'd spend that much for the cheap chrome asian brackets/pulleys that WILL soon fail.
Sell the long pump ... use a short pump that's specific for your 77 vette.
FYI: sbc pumps come in THREE basic lengths ... long, short ... and a short pump that has a unique dimension that your 77 vette needs. Stick any ol' short pump on there & your 77 vette pulleys/belts won't line up just right.
The specific answer to your questions is "If you can put the fan blades in the proper position to the radiator/shroud that is called out in the AIM, and you can get your belts aligned correctly, Yes". Whether you can actually accomplish all that by putting a long pump in a short pump car.....you tell us after you give it a try.

He's not kidding. The joker before me put the wrong short pump on, and nothing would line up right. I went through so much crap trying to adjust pulleys by even a 1/8" I ended up pulling everything off and switching to serpentine.
Sell the long pump or keep it for another project. Buy a correct short, and call it good.
By the way, you won't see any advantages to using an aluminum pump over a stock pump other than weight, and from what I hear a lot of the after market aluminums are failing people.
sounds like you got a good deal or free-b on the alum pump now it will cost you major $$$ to correct a bad idea. Sell the aluminum pump & buy a corvette short pump. Like D-B said the only benifit is less weight. You can buy a better cast iron high flow pump for under $100. G/L
As many on this forum will testify. Bubba can, will, and has done just about anything to a C3. A brand new correct shaft, short, aluminum pump will cost much less than all of the brackets and pullies that will need to be changed, and the future heartache to yourself and any future owner. jmho
My goodness, what a bunch of "whoo ha"!!!!!! Crazy waterpumps!

I mean, what benefit does the aluminum water pump have over a stock one besides being able to say, "I have an after market aluminum water pump."?
I put long pump accessories on my motor and the crank pulley clears the front crossmember nicely. It wouldn't be a good solution here, but it does work.

What about the fan? Did you switch to electric or accept the tight tolerances?
