Default Missing Timing Marks

Finally went to set the ignition timing today!

Timing marks are missing.

Where are they attached?

They are behind the flamblaster, and just in front of the haglemorph.

[Sorry, I couldn't resist.] The TDC (top dead center) timing mark for the #1 cylinder is on the harmonic balancer (one axial line somewhere on the O.D.) and the "scale" for it is attached to the block just above the balancer at about the 2 o'clock position [as you are looking at it from the front].

Yes the index is missing.

Looks like it is bolted to the timing chain cover.

I cant even see if it is broke off.

you can buy them and they simply bolt on using two timing chain cover bolts....go to Summit or Jegs

Mine was missing too, got one at AutoZone, about $5, chrome too!

One problem when installing - the lower (iirc) bolt won't come out all the way because it hits the balancer. I cut the lower bolt hole on the timing tab to make a slot and slid it under the bolt head. The other bolt comes out fine.
