Shimming the Shifter
The strange thing about this to me is that the shifter bracket has 2 holes at the front (where the shims go) and then 2 holes at the back where it attaches to the crossmember.
If you start adding shims to the front of the bracket it makes the 2 holes at the back of the bracket very difficult to line up w/ the crossmember.
Anyone else know what I'm speaking of?

Another thing you can do is move your console as far forward as possible. After I installed new carpet my shifter started hitting the console and I took the brake console off and pushed the shifter console forward about 1/4 inch. It was enough.
