Remove this solonoid ?

See the solonoid with the light green vacuum conector? I know it has something to do with ignition timing and engine temp. It is wired up to a 2 prong temp switch on the passenger side head. Does it do anything worthwhile.....?

I am finishing up a total rebuild....74 / 454....remove or re-install ????

If you want performance, take it off, and run manifold vacuum for your advance. It's a crude, early smog device.

Yea I think that was put in there to delay timing advance until the engine got up to operating temp. You can delete it and all its periferals

That unit looks surprisingly like the wiper door solenoid/switch which [normally] resides behind the tachometer.

Save the parts you take off. They are worth $$$$. NCRS guys go bonkers over finding one of those.....
