The second stupidest C3 Tech question ever

Oh what the hell....here it is... I'm replacing the thermostat and can't figure out if the gasket goes on the intake, THEN the thermostat, THEN the housing

OR

thermostat THEN the gasket THEN the housing.....

and also a little :o

Tstat goes in first and sits in the little recessed valley for it so the gasket sits flush on the intake manifold and then the gooseneck on top.

I may be wrong but the thermostat fits down into a shallow bore in the intake which makes the thermo flange flush with top surface. Therefore, thermostat then gasket then housing.

To ask was a very smart thing.

To have not asked..........installed it incorrectly
causing a leak and having the engine overheat.

That would have been STUPID!

And BOTH are better than cracking a T'stat housing on Sunday-- AFTER the parts houses all close.:o

But I don't know of anyone that's done that..

There are some stupid questions...but this one isn't one of them.

[You know... like "Where do you want to go on your 21st birthday?" ... or... when the star varsity quarterback at your school asks, "Would it be OK with you if I dated your sister?"]
