Vacuum line in the battery box, any ideas???

Vacuum line in the battery box, any ideas???
Just went to replace the battery and found two vacumm lines dangling inside the battery box. Anyone have a clue where these are supposed to connect to?

Dont know what year you have but back in 69, my year car, the battery caps had a nipple on them that the hose attached to. It served as a vent for the battery.

Original equipment batteries were vented type and as such had 2 caps, each covering 3 cells and then vented via 1/4" tubing through the bottom of the battery box.

Thanks for the quick replies. Know the tough question which battery to buy, Consumer Reports recommends AC Delco Proffesional 75 or the Napa 84 Select battery. Anyone thoughts?
