Default Seat Covers

I will be recovering my seats in the next couple of months. I was thinking of of going with leather. However, the MonyePit is (will be) a daily driver, so I need a material that is durable. Has anyone had any experience with the "pleather" (play leather)? How does it look, wear etc. etc.? Is there any difference in quality from vendor to vendor? Thanks WCW

Isn't pleather just fake leather, leather look a like or another name for vinle. I would think the leather would hold up better.

If you ever have leather, I don't think you'd ever want anything else...

I agree guys; there is probably no real substitute for leather. However, the bubba in me just rears it head on occaision. However, the quality of some of the fake leather is really good. Some people may not know this, but a lot of "leather" upholstery (auto and home) is actually a combo of leather and vinyl (?sp). The sidepanels on some "leather" upholstered goods are the cheap stuff, while the "sitting" area is the real leather. Furthermore, if you have much experience with the leather in "some" imports, you will understand when I say, "it ain't the best quality". With the vette vendors purchasing there goods from the cheapest source, I do not see how I will know if the quality of the leather goods I purchase will be worth the money that they ask for (because of there claim of quality). I think we have all read recently in the forum that quality is hit or miss with some of the most well known names. If I am going to pay for high dollar crap, I would rather just put the cheap basket weave back in.

I've been reading all these replies and have to add my .02 My Uncle is a fabric supplier to upholsters, and has many colors and different quality pleather fabrics in stock. Moneypit is right in what he says. Some of the more quality made pleathers look just like leather, more color options, durable, and easier to work with than leather. But.... this is where our agreement stops. Only real leather for my car... and my butt agrees!!

I looked at a set of 76 "fake" seats and that's just what they looked like. I personally like the original vinyl seats and the original leather. Personal choice- it's your car. Doesn't sound like a big $ differance to go original, especially if you put them in and you don't like them.
