Default Anyone using any Pertroniz ignition components?

PERTRONIX..

Bad spelling.
Looking at up gradeing my 67 Camaro's ignition from dual points to electronic w/ CD box. The pertronix seems to be reasonably priced. Any opinions?

I'm curious. What problem are you having that you feel the need to convert it?

The reason I want to change it is that the car sits inactive alot and the points corode and I frequently have to file them to get the car to start. Also setting the dual points is not much fun. I just figured electronic ignition is the way to go these days. I have a Mallory Unilite in my vette that has been ok but I want to have the option of adding a CD box as well and the unilite does not work with most CD boxes.

Little Mouse: Would the crane kit work on the accell dual point dist.? I kinda figured they were for GM single point conversions?

Do Pertronix make a kit to suit the Accel distributor?
I have Pertronix in both my Bonneville and Vette. Both have been totally reliable for 10-15 years and the kit is made to suit each distributor (the Pontiac dizzy rotated the opposite direction to the Chev one so the trigger is different even though the dizzys look the same)

Your right I assumed you had a single point sytem. did not pay attention you said you had dual points.

I think you have a very valid reason for going to an electronic ignition system. I think Pertronix is plenty good for general purpose use. If you were racing or hitting 7000 + rpm, the recommendation might be different.
