Installing an MSD 6 plus. I wired the constant power to the large terminal on the starter, to what I assumed would be a constant power from the battery. But it seems not, I don't have voltage at the starter with the key off.
Need to get an answer to one of the following...
1: Is this OK, I know it says to wire directly to the battery, but don't know why it would have to have power when the car is off- unless it would delay starting while the box powers up?
2: Is there another easily reached constant power under the hood?
I'm in the middle of some other upgrades so haven't tried starting it yet, wanting to know if I'm in for disappointment when I turn the key in a couple days.
They want it wired to the battery for the amp draw. It draws a few amps when you are in the upper rpms so they want the wiring to be able to handle it. The bigger red wire is the one the ywant to a battery source. I use the big lug on the starter for the constant 12V supply.
