I am stuck trying to remove the right side dash panel from my 1973 vette - I removed all of the screws but it still seems to be held in by the air vent chrome cover. I also don't know how to remove the vent control cable ****/pull. Any help would be greatly appreciated - is there a manual with pictures and instructions?
It's not going to fall out but if you take out all 7 or 8 screws (2 on each side and either 3 or 4 under the dash) it will come out without disconnecting anything else. The vent cable is not a cable but a direct linkage to the vent right along side. The vent is a slip fit inside the duct and comes out easy. Once you figure out the right way to maneuver the dash panel out it comes out and goes in very easy.
And be sure that you've removed the two philips head screws on the very right lip of the panel (the part that wraps around where the door closes against the pillar) and the two screws in the instrument bezel that screw into the left side of the panel.
If you ever do need to get the vent control **** off, it just unscrews.
