Default Where's the burnout power?

Just installed a fresh 60 over 350 10-1 comp ratio 64cc vortec heads, edelbrock performer intake, holley 600 carb, comp XE268H cams and comp lifters and roller tip rockers. Hooker headers and sidepipes, auto transmission with 3:55 rear end. Car does not do a burnout as I expected any suggestions?

What year is the vette, not that it matters. Are you sure you know how to do a burn out? I would think if everything is working right you should be able to leave some nice rubber on the street. I would of went with a 750 holly but the 600 should do it. When you run it does it have a lot of torq?

Here is a result of a 370 hp 4 spd and a lot of 200' burnouts. Be careful of what you wish for! LOL

Its a 79 seems to have a lot of torque the front end will lift upon acceleration. I put a 750 on it and it had some fuel leakage problems Holly 750 double pumper I have all the parts to repair it now, it seems to run fine with the 600 on it just thoought it would have more low end power when everything I had for the engine was 0-5500 rpm range.

I would settle for a 100' burnout.

I'm guessing and automatic, do you know how to do a brake stand ?

If it's a 4 speed you got problems, my grandmother's 6 cylinder '63 Rambler station wagon with only 5 cylinders working would lay down a half decent patch

Yes its an automatic. Well the rest of the story is the brakes were faulty and you know i wanted the engine fixed before the brakes. Who needs to stop So i put 4 new calipers on last week and my motive pressure bleeder just came in today so I can bleed them without the wifes help Then I will take it back out for a test run.

If the tranny is a stock unit, you may not be able to get the revs you need at stall before you release the brake...you may be too low in the torque band. You also didn't mention the width/type of tires you had on the back end. Very wide, sticky tires would make it more difficult to break loose.

You need a stall speed converter in that auto, thats why... Especially with a cam that is 224/230 @ .050. Stick a 3000 stall in it and you will be looking for drag radials just to get it to hook up.

I might have to get a stall convertor and try it out.

The best bang for the buck stall is a HUGHES GM30. Its a 3000 rpm stall...or at least thats what its rated to. They will all stall differently according to the powerband of the the motor.

That will wake you up BIG TIME.

I took out my BB a/t (TH 350) for a shakedown cruise a couple of days ago. I put the car in 1 (low), and from a standing start, without using the brake, stabbed the gas and got a good "chirp'. If the car is running right and set up right, it should be able to lay down rubber no prob.

What are you trying to do? Catch a chirp in 2nd gear or lite up the tires launching it?

I have a plain old B&M holeshot 2000 stall in my 72 with B&M retrofitTH400 and 336 gears. The 350 is about 325 hp. I can hold the brake to lite them up and launch it no problem, haven't really held it in 1st to chirp into 2nd gear.

I had the same problem with mine and it's a 4 speed. I had a GM crate motor GM rated it at 400 HP at the crank with stock 4 speed and 2.72 rear end gear. It spun the tires but not like I wanted. I put a keisler 5 speed and changed the rear end gear to a 3.55 and you can spin without trying. Now I just got to get rid of the whine from the rear end and everything will be good.

I have a 78 that I might take the 4 speed out and change over everyting, instead of sticking wth the auto.
