I have a 1988 350 in my 69 vette. I put a Edelbrock combination of 2104 Intake with the 1405 Carb.
Idles fine.... But when you give it gas it boggs down... If you give it gas slowly it will be ok... but take it from idle to a lot of gas it almost sounds like it chokes it'self. I tried playing with the timing and the two adjment screws on the front of the carb but not change.
Could it be Distributor? Vacume? My wiper door and headlights work great so I figured vaccum must be ok....
check the accelerator pump. Pull the air cleaner and look into the throat of the carb and push the throttle plate open, gas should squirt into the carb. Also look at the choke, see if it is opening
Just thought I would let everyone know I got it fixed. I downloaded the manual, gave it a glaze and checked a couple notible issues. The manual said the carb had a pump that shot fuel in as you first push on the pedal, since air is lighter than fuel, it takes a second for the fuel to catch up to the air, so they need to pump the fuel into the bowls for the first second. Then I noticed only the Pass. side barrel was getting gas in the first place.... So, I took the top off, adj. the floats, they were WAY off, not letting enough fuel in the bowl for the driver side barrel to work, which is the side that feeds the internal pump that shoots the intial fuel when the pedal is pushed in.
Adj. the Float fixed both issues!
Took the lady out and she runs like a raped Ape!
Thanks for all those who helped and offered advice.
Can you blieve after 29 of storage, ALL the Vacume stuff works without issues! Can't believe it!
