Diff Between Short and Long Water Pump? (pic)
Help....I wanna replace my water pump during my engine rebuild. I see replacements listed as long and short. How do I tell the difference. Can anyone tell me which one I have?
My car is a 1977 - 350, auto.

A short water pump practically touches the timing chain cover on the back side of the water pump and A long water pump is about a half inch from touching the timing chain cover on the back side of the water pump. You have a short water pump but you have to order it for a Corvette because it uses a short water pump but it has the larger diameter shaft of a long water pump.
