Has anyone dyed a door panel with half leather / half carpet as on an '80 coupe ? I am planning on replacing the floor carpet, but would like to hold off replacing the door panels at this time. Which would you dye first - carpet part or leather part ? I assume you would use different dyes for each ?????
Currently the door is tan, but looking at either redoing it in black or gray. Any help is appreciated.

I dyed mine from tan to black. Used a lot of coats esp. in "high use" areas. Used almost an entire can on each door panel. Mostly on the carpet part. You have to go at different angles to get the carpet right.I used "Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric". Make sure to clean it before you start.
i did my panels, seats and some other items with VHT dye purchased at my local speed shop.
only took about 1/2 of a can to do each panel and 1 whole can to do each seat so far it is holding up really well. http://hometown.aol.com/coronet69/page21.html
