Default Hard Starting

Pump/Pump/Pump The Pedal:
1970 350/350 4spd:
Fresh Motor, New Carb, New Fuel Pump
After car sits 1-2 days, you need to Pump The Pedal endlessly,
to get it to go! I mean stand on it! Sounds like the system is
"Backdraining Gas", back into the Tank. Fuel pump proves good
pressure while running. Why does the Gas Tank Go: Whooosh!!
when I open it. Do I have a clogged vent, or is there a fault
somewhere else..

the whoosh sound is probably a vaccuum in the tank. I was under the impression that this was normal. Also I think people might need more info on your setup to trboule shoot. My motor takes its sweet time starting but its a custom race motor.

yeah if anyone has any insight that would help. Mine is a stock motor and right now if it sits for more then 8 hours it takes a lot of pumping to get it started. Thanks!

Next time before starting it, pull the air cleaner and look into the carb throat. The choke should be closed because its cold, pull it open and operate the throttle, see if it squirts gas. If no, then your on the right track and the tank may have sucked the fuel back into the tank.
I don't know if the 70 had a vented cap, fuel return on the pump or filter. But, thats where I would start
