Whats a good timing light to get? Is a Actron any good? I was looking at #cp7529. I need a light that has advance but also I need to see my rpms. Is it best to buy a light that can do both or do I have other options.
You do have other options. If you have a digital ignition or CD ignition box like MSD then you can use the tach output to drive a small tachometer strapped to your timing light. I just went to AutoZone and bought the cheapest tach they had and it also happened to be a little tiny thing and used a little duct tape to strap it to the top of my gun. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

I have the digital Actron light with RPM and it works very well.
A "dial-back" timing light with a built-in tach is what you want...but make sure it has a bright light that can be seen in "less than dark" conditions.
So you can set your advance and then switch over to watch the tach until your timing in "all in" ?
Yes, you can bounce through the various "screens" with a thumb press as you are working. I have had the Equus model that Scott recommended for a couple of years now and I agree, it is the sweetest timing light I have ever used!
