your better off with the spread bore 2101, if you go with the eps you will have to put a conversion spacer on and you will hit your hood.

if it were me i would get a set of used vortec heads and the vortec performer intake, slide a new cam in it, upgrade the restrictive exhaust and call it a day. that shouldnt cost you too much and you will see a very nice increase in power.

Here is my 2 cents on this deal.

A change from the stock intake will not buy you much if anything except for the Bling factor. I'm not sure if the EPS manifold is available in the Q-Jet style or with the needed choke hookup that you require for your stock q-jet carb, if so, I think it is a bit taller that the RPM intake. If you go to the Edelbrock website directly they will have the height comparisons available.

The same goes for a cam swap with your low compression engine. You need a short duration cam with an early closing inlet valve to build cylinder pressure as is. If you search the archives, a very popular cam and best bang for your buck is the Summit 1102K or 1103K cam and lifter kit. The very best thing to increase your HP would be to invest in a set of heads with 64 to 67 CC heads. Look into the Dart Platinum/Iron Eagle heads or the Summit brand heads. Another option is to find a rebuilt or new set of GM Vortec heads which will also require a matching Vortec intake and valve covers.

If you are only doing the intake and cam, I would go with the Edelbrock 2101 to keep the stock height and the Summit 1102 cam.

where would i get these used vortec parts? im not looking to make my engine a really fast one that is hard on everyday driving. just want a little more power. i already put on hooker side pipes, so the exhaust is good.

so say i go with the edelbrck 2101 intake, theres nothing else i need to make this fit right?

and i go with the sum-1102 cam...dont i want the operating range to start at idle and end higher?

trying to keep this below $350 so i dont know if new heads will fit in the budget. if i changed the intake and cam with these right now, can i go back and install new heads without changing anything else?

visit a few local machine shops, there is always someone there or hanging out there that knows where some good used stuff is sitting. price it all out before you buy. you might decide the heads are worth saving for a month or two more to get a really good performance increase with great everyday manners.
