If not, it is kinda embarrassing.
I purchased a new ashtray housing and want to swap over the cigarette socket. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the cigarette socket off of the ashtray housing. It appears to be two pieces. Inner and outer. The two pieces just spin.
Please help...
Bryan
That's what I thought. It must be stripped. Guess I'm gonna have to get nasty with it.
Thanks!
Bryan
Sticlk your finger with a rag around it in the socket and keep the inner from spinning. Grab the outer housing and turn it. It will crank right off. You get nasty with it and grab it with channel locks or pliars and bend it at all it WON"T come apart. You will have to sawzall it off. Be gentle, if it don't come right apart spray it down with PB blaster and let it sit a little while and try again.
Evidently it has been tinkered with before. Even when I hold the inner socket I can't get the outer housing to unscrew. All it will do is spin. It looks like it is sawzall time. I'll just leave it attached to the old ashtray housing.
I just ordered a new lighter assembly from ZIP
Thanks,
Bryan
