From: I tend to be leery of any guy who doesn't own a chainsaw or a handgun.
Enjoyed viewing the sequence, and it's always a pleasure seeing a guy doing his own work on his car. (WRT Brodix heads, I put a set on my '84 355 several years ago.)
But, with all due respect, may I ask why you put the cast iron manifold back on? Those heads are gorgeous (and light), while cast iron is neither. Not trying to be impolite here, but some aluminum up high not only looks good, but helps the handling. It's your car and money, and I respect that, I'm just a bit perplexed.

Not too mention the iron manifold will choke the eng and you will not get the full benfits of the better flowing heads.

First of all thanks
Second, no offence taken at all...( i gues a fresh coat of paint does'nt cut it huh j/k)
Now since i hate to see a fellow member of the shark tank perplexed, let me tell the rest of the story. I have an alluminum singleplane torker II with the oil fill tube( which is something I like personally), I got from one of the team here, and plan(ed) to put that on, however it is not a spread bore set up, so no joy there (silly me)
So now I have to ether get a new carb or get another intake( probaly without an oil fill tube since they dont make them anymore), both of which i can do anytime, for now the mission was to get back on the road.
either swap is a pice of cake compared to the head job, Oh well I guess ill have to just keep wrenching
Thanks
tim

You guys are great
One project at a time troops. With the stock cam in there, I wont be taking advantage of the heads either, but what i do have is the set up for the next projects which is..........
A New Cam Specs TBD, and since the intake has to come off (and the radiator etc...etc...)to do the cam, guess what.... More wrenching ( God i love this hobby )
One project at a time fellas... I have to get some seat time in as well....
my Philosohy, upgrade, drive, upgrade, drive, Im in no hurry
thanks for all the compliments and advice and *ahem* directions
Tim

The Qjet is a fine carburation device, but I am considering the holley cuase I really wanna keep the oil fill tube
Though I am less interested in popin wheelies than motorvating on the highway
I sort of lied though
here is the very next project
was gonna do em sunday but it rained
Sweet!!
Love them Sidepipes!! Got Hooker Sidepipes on both of my C3's
The Q-jets are just too difficult to tune and Holleys are very easy to work on.. There's no doubt that Q-jets can work very well if tuned correctly but very few people can actually tune them right.. Anybody with limited mechanical skills can work on Holleys...

I have re-tuned my HP series Holley many times with great success, but I can't even get my yellow '68 to idle right with the Q-junk (actually the Edelbrock version of the q-junk)..
The throttle lever isn't even hitting the idle screw and the car idles at 900 - 1200 RPM.. There are no vacuum leaks. I haven't done too much work on the yellow car as I'm busy with the other cars and home improvement projects.. but the Q-junk is the first thing to go once I'll spend more time and money on the yellow '68...
