Someone mentioned to me a while back the brand of paint called "Krylon" and it was used for:
interior - shifter, console etc..
exterior under hood - hinges etc..
but I can't remember is it semi gloss? flat?
HELP!
most trim paints finishes used are semi-gloss.
The Krylon is good and i've used it at times but I tend to prefer the SEM #39143 paint for interior and underhood trim. It's a great paint, sprays out well and goes on easily, dries down great, and has a wonderful semi-gloss finish to it
KEM also have a prep spray that helps adhesion and a cleaner. I used the system but couldn't get it to stick for long, but have spoken to others that love it.
Semi-FLAT is the right stuff. It is between Flat and Semi-gloss in sheen. There is an exact black color definition, but for us "daily" folks, this Krylon is pretty darn close.
Another vote for semi-flat, not semi-gloss. I've done my shift console, instrument bezel, and I don't know how many other bits and pieces using Krylon semi-flat and it's a darn-near perfect match (semi-gloss won't even come close to matching the sheen of the original factory paint).
interesting responses since for me the closest match was semi-GLOSS , not semi-FLAT, and semi-GLOSS is also what's listed as the correct finishes for my '78 in the NCRS technical manual on both underhood parts and interior trim pieces.
Of course, I didn't look at the profile of the OP to see if he had listed the year of his car so that very well make a difference.
