Window Crank Handle Won't Engage
Found that my driver's door window crank handle does not fully seat. Therefore, it just spins and the teeth on the handle don't 'mesh' with the teeth on the crank mechanism.
Removed the door panel and then the cover/shaft of the crank mechanism. The pin in the shaft that meshes with the handle is intact. I note that it has about 1/16"-1/8" of in-out play in the crank mechanism. The door panel is aftermarket and may be thick where it shouldn't be; preventing the handle from fully seating/fitting. I tried attaching the handle without the door panel and found it fully meshes/fits with the crank mechanism. I am going to see if, by pushing the door panel against the door frame, I may be able to fully attach the handle. If that doesn't work, I'll see if I can shave a little of the door panel around where it meets the door frame to add some clearance. Will also be adding some heavy grease around the shaft/cover as it is looking a little dry around the cover's (brass/copper?) bushing surface.
Will advise after I give it a try this evening.
I performed some research and found a replacement window crank stud for $9.95 at Rik's Corvette Parts. Have ordered that part along with another handle/clip since the replacement handle with black **** at Rik's is only $6 (what a bargain). So, I suspect I will solve my sloppy driver's window crank issue soon with the new stud and handle. I hope the stud comes with a pin installed already...
Will advise once I install them.
