the SUM-1104 is not much diffrent tham what i have now.
The 1104 is a lot "more cam" than what you have now. Your perfomer cam has 204/214 duration and less than .450" lift. The 1104 has 224/224 dur and .465" lift.
With a 114 degrees LS it will run smooth, not very rumpy/lumpy at idle.
The SealedPower cam that Jackson posted seems to be exactly what you're looking for
Keep the duration reasonable 215/220 will give you plenty of vacuum
decent torque. Find a cam with short duration, high lift and a 110
LSA for the rumpity. Comp has a lot of cams with 110 LSA
Actually, I've had good luck with the L79 cam "151" 327 350hp in a number of 4wd trucks and heavier ( over 3500 pounds ) cars with 8.5 to 9.0 cr. That cam has a good broad tourqe curve. Good sound to it at idle. Everyone like the way they ran and sounded.
OK I have been looking at cams on the Summit web site. I have looked for cams to fit the parameters intake 212-218 and exhaust 222-230 duration range with a 110 or 112 degrees LS
This is what I have found. Which one will be best for my 350 9to1 compresion?

The Sealed Power- SP # CS1062R ....... 220/231, .468/.480 ICL 110 I have not found on the Summit pages?
The Lunati cam is very similar to the 1103 Summit cam but you pay $130 more.....
Not sure if Summit sells the SealedPower cams, I've seen them several times on Ebay. Racersoutlet (Ebay seller) for example ... they might be a little easier on the shipping cost , I've heard Summit charges a lot for int shipping...

that LUN-01003LK $185 includes lifters. You sure are right on Summit shipping charges, sure would like to avoid them if I can. As for Flebay I cant buy from them living here (third world country) do you have an other source for the Sealed power cams?

Look for Racersoutlet or Whiteperformance on Ebay and email them, not sure about Racersoutlet but Whiteperformance is a normal store and they sell outside of ebay....
I have a Comp Cams High Energy 268H installed in my 81. The bottom end is stock, added the camshaft with Edelbrock Performer Heads.
Vacuum is good, all accessories work, idle is a little choppy, you can definitely tell it's not a stock camshaft. Below are the specs.
Valve Timing At 0.006
Open Close
Intake 28 60
Exhaust 68 20
These Specs Are For The Cam Installed At 106 Intake CL
Intake Exhaust
Duration At 0.05 218 218
Lobe Lift 0.3026 0.3026
Lobe Separation 110
Recommended Valve Springs 981-16
I had an XE268H with Edelbrock RPM heads on a stock bottom end and I had idling problems and it ran like a dog out of the hole. In their add it say it's the largest cam on a stock converter but in my opinion it is to big for a stock converter so if your bottom end is stock I wouldn't go bigger than an XE262. Since then I built a 383 and according to Eagle I'm running close to 11 to 1 CR now with the same XE268H with a 2400 Stall it will pull 1.9 sixty ft times and is very streetable but I did have to back my timing back to 33 degrees so I could run on pump gas. Just remember bigger is not always better if your going to drive it on the street every day.
go to http://www.crower.com/misc/m_cat.shtml and then start reading on page 7. this will help you with picking what is right for your needs. look through the rest of the pages and look at the cam profiles that are in the range of what will work best for your application. do not over cam the car just to get the sound or you will be very unhappy. if you want a more lumpy idle pick a cam profile then get it ground in a 108 lobe separation. that will give you a rougher idle and have less of an impact on the drivability than going with a long duration cam. everything is a trade off. rough idle means less vac. and long duration kills low end power. you need lower end power with your gearing. if you match your cam to your entire application you will be alot happier.
