Default 78 inside mirror location...measurement please!

Hi,

I need to install the inside mirror on a new windshield in a 78SA. Can someone give me measurements from the windshield header molding down to the mirror mount on the glass? This info is not in the AIM.

You help is always appreciated.

79 with trim installed and mirror removed. The top of the mount is exactly 2 1/2" from the trim. Looking from the outside with the winshield trim still installed, the mount is 2 11/16" from the trim. Same on my 78 but its not a SA. Hope this helps.

Shouldn't be a difference. SA is only the paint option. Mirror location would have been the same for all of them.

I agree with 79VetOwner. Measured inside the car (78)from trim to top of mirror base and came up with 2 1/2 inches. However in order to achieve that measurement when you glue the oblong mounting to the inside windshield you must move down about 1/8 inch. Then when the base is mounted you will have the 2 1/2 inches like the rest of us :-)
