Bob, I had that exact same situation with my '68. I couldn't get it to fit exactly right so I did it the best way I could. As far as I know, there are no fasteners to help hold the carpet up. I glued mine just under the lip that is just under the vents back there and trimmed the excess at the front at the storage compartments. Once you have the deck lid closed and the top down, there is no way you or anyone else will notice it. Here is the only shot I have on file at the moment.

No fasteners, it glues in. Yours fits WAY better than mine ever did! The carpet kit was in a pile of parts I got with the car, and not a very good one at that. I had it professionally installed and it came out nice.

ok first lesson make sure you have a solvent to get glue off of your new carpet.........

[IMG][/IMG]

the glue gets sprayed liberally

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

i used some foam to build out the back as a flat surface

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

i used glue and then clamped the carpet down

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

i will finish it up tomorrow, i even used a straight razor and didn't slice up my fingers...now thats a first

Ah... You knew you could do it!

I'll bet 100 buck that your carpet came from Wilcox (or ACC).

Is wilcox the best? I need a kit but really want one that won't wrinkle or be too hard to install since I have to do it myself.

I knew it. Wilcox sells ACC carpet. ACC needs to fix their crappy mold. Mine had the same baggy area around the wheel well. I complained about my fit here on the forum and stirred up a damn hornets nest.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...=wilcox+carpet

I guess ACC uses their own mold, but it isn't right!!!

i'm not sure why it is baggy but i can't argue with your comments it seems like it could have been a little tighter

mine is ACC and it looks exactly like that, thought about putting some foam behind it to make it look better. only good thing is the top will be down 99% of the time and it wont show

We recently sent them photos of the exact same issue on a car in our shop.

As with your problem Scott I hope the second set we sent to you worked out, and I offer the same offer I did to you too this customer.

Call customer service at 800-588-3883 and tell Norm, Joe, Tom what your problem is. Please if you can email picture to us at Tommy@willcoxcorvette.com we would be happy to forward it to ACC.

We have very few problems with ACC carpet sets, but this one issue seems to be something that keeps popping up! We alone can not fix this issue. While every aspect of ACC carpet is in the original GM design down to the number of threads per inch from 1953-1993, it appears as if this mold has been moved to the wrong size.

I ask each and everyone that has a Convertible from 1968-1975 to go to the ACC web site at http://www.accmats.com and email them this info. Put it attention Randy Cotton or Roger.

Maybe the mass’s can get their attention. If you have original carpet in your car, this would even help us more. You can tell an original carpet set from the reproductions by the JP Stevens logo tag attached to the back of the carpet sections.

In the mean time, if you want us to replace this T-Section, I would be happy to. I’m lost as to why you received one this size since we just called them with the exact dimensions on this carpet section two months ago.

Regards,

Willcox Inc.

I forgot, there should be three plugs that push through the back wall of the carpet in to the rear body section. These are called carpet fasteners. They are rubber and hold the carpet to the back wall.
