first off, thanks for all the help you guys give me !
im locating interior trim by the peice and different colors, due to my shop burning with all int. trim inside. my question is,will i be able to dye these different colors (oxblood)and have them all be the same color, without some being lighter or darker depending on the color they were in the beginning, and would you recommend dye or paint. thanks again.
Interior dye is what's commonly used on interior pieces. The important thing is to purchase the same brand from the same place, and enough to do the entire job. To insure consistancy in color, matching dye lot numbers on the can is good insurance. It's always good to have some dye left over for future touch ups too. When dyeing, prep is most important. A perfectly clean surface will insure adhesion. It sticks well to vynal and plastic, but not the best to metal. Carpet & seats can be dyed, but not with optimum professional results.
Tons of posts on surface prep here so search away!
Good luck

For interior dye/paint, I have used SEM brand. Most places sell it in spray cans, but some bigger paint stores can mix any color, but you'll have to use your own sprayer to apply. They seem to call it paint more than dye these days, but as long as it is for vinyl and plastic I think you'll be ok.
the dye works great. i have had good results with it. prep is very important. make sure to get everything very clean and oil free. when you spray it use lots of very thin coats not thick ones. the results come out much better with several dusting type of coats. just let them dry for a little while and touch them as little as possible between coats. if you must touch them between coats make sure they are dry and use medical type gloves when you do touch them to avoid getting any body oil on the surface before the next coat. i have changed grey and black to red in the past and it took about 4 light coats to get them to match.
