I noticed an advertisement for a 70 LT-1 at G.M. Down Under. The car is suppose to have 39,000 original documented miles. It has had a lot of work done for 39.000 plus there is the patena of a older restoration. Regardless, it is a roadster for $85,000.00. What are everyone's thoughts of this price. Given this, what is the value of a factory a/c coupe in comparable condition but 90,000 plus miles (twenty on restoration)?
What it's worth depends on where it is and how badly people want it. If there is a big demand for the 70 LT-1 there and very few cars, it wouldn't surprise me that it might bring $50,000 plus. $85K sounds pretty high.

Roadsters are certainly fetching more than coupes....
Not a lot of genuine LT1's in OZ, and I think 1970 the number of convertibles produced was small by comparison to coupes....
So a genuine 1970 LT1 convertible in Oz is not easy to come by.
And it's NOT difficult to spend big money on a factory correct resto....

one word comes to mind...RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!
39K & patena of an older resto??? =BS...even if it is # match, it doesnt make sense
Proteam also has a '71 coupe they're asking $40K for. For an outfit like Proteam NOT to do a frame off on an LT-1 tells you all you need to know about price.
Lets say thier cost to do a frame-off is $30K (I'll bet its much less if the major parts are there) add the cost of the car (they probably have $25K into the coupe) and you have thier cost around $55-60K for the '71 coupe. If they thought they could get $60K they would. It gives you an idea of what a coupe is really worth.
There have been other threads lately on LT-1 pricing. For $85,000 it better be real nice, but IMO $85K is not unreasonable for a 70 roadster. I think the 70 roadster is the most desirable and should bring the most money of all LT-1s, even the 72 with AC.
I took a look at the ad for the car. While I think $85K is not unreasonable for the right LT-1, just looking at the pics and reading the ad I don't think that car is worth $85K.
"Holy Grail" for a 72 C-60 LT-1? I owned a C-60 equipped 72 LT-1, wide ratio transmission and 3.55 gears made the Vette a little sluggish. I did major tune-up on Vette and it ran 14.06@99MPH AFTER I changed all the pulleys to deep groove type to prevent fan belt throwing. Car was a pure joy to work on especially the bad heater core I had to change (THE ABSOLUTE WORST JOB TO DO ON A C3 VETTE if it has A/C!) I prefer my LT-1s with close ratio transmissions and 6500RPM redline tach (the 72 C-60 had 5600RPM redline to prevent fan belt departure from pulley grooves.) If you are shopping for a LT-1 make sure you know what parts are includued in the package before paying for a "clone".
