Default Stainless VS Chrome Sidepipes...???

Need advise on sidepipes for my 77.

My vette is black on black...thought at first I'd like the painted black headers. Now I'm thinking of the Chrome or Stainless pipes.

Do either of the 'blue' at the heads? Do they look the same...both shine like Chrome?

What is the advantage one over the other? I think Summit has them at the same price.

Any advise is appreciated.

Doug

My chrome pipes are 4 yrs old and still shine.I have stainless heat shields on and the nice thing about them is I can buff them when needed. My pipes are not stock Hooker chrome. They were black than striped and chromed at a good local shop.If I had to buy again I would go stainless. I have no blueing and I'm running a 383 stroker.

go stainless. when i 1st got my chrome hookers they turned Blue after my 1st drive and 4yrs later i was sending em to jethot to be stripped and jetcoated cuz they were rusting despite my vette living in a carpeted garage and hardly ever seeing rain.

I have the stainless Hookers. The biggest advantage is that there's no coating that can chip or peel.... you might have to massage one of the primary pies to clear the steering box, I had to and I was glad that I chose the stainless version....
They need to be polished once a month or so or they turn gold/brown ..... no big deal....

I also went with stainless. Like stated earlier, the biggest advantage is that there is no chrome to chip off and eventually rust. Remember that the headers come out directly behind the front tires. It's very likely that you'll get rock chips there in the chrome over time and then guess what. I will say that the the stainless headers turn gold then blue, but the side pipes never do. It's not easy to get out, but it can be done. I didn't have to message my headers at all. The only thing that is tight are the header bolts due to the large diameter of the tubes.

Also no matter what you decide on, you're not gonna get the best deal from Summit. Call Barnett Performance in Atlanta. They will give you the best deal by far. They beat Summit's price by almost $200 on the set for me.
