Default Rear Axle ID Location?

Wondering if anyone can tell me where to look on the diff for the ID markings. I have the production codes listed in the restoration guide, and it states that they can be found 'Bottom left or right of axle tube adjacent to carrier housing'
Looked where I thought it should be, but didn't see anything.
Any thoughts?
Thanks...
-Tom

Mine's on the bottom of the differential, near the parting line.

As Mack states, it is at the very bottom of the diff. case. This is the lip that the rear plate or cover bolts to. There will be a stamped code on it. Depending on the condition of your case you may not be able to read it. My 66 case was almost illegible from wear and pitting. My 72 case looks like it was stamped last week. A good technique is to clean the bottom of the lip without using any abrasives and then shine a light at an angle to illuminate the code.

Mines on the very bottom of the carrier also, don't know if the picture helps or not, but here it is.

Thanks guys,
That's got it. I did need to get the flashlight at the right angle to make the lettering stand out.
