Filling the Block?
I'm looking to buy a 408 short block for my 77 and the person selling is saying that the block has Hard Block fill on lower part of water jackets 1" below water pump hole because it is intended for street use?
What would this mean to me? Will my vette run hotter?

It should actually make it run cooler in MOST cases. It forces more coolant to flow past the heads and upper combustion chamber where most of the heat is. That being said, Ive never owned a filled block so I have no first hand experience. Maybe someone can chime in who has a filled block.

This was discussed in depth a few months ago (check out the "Search!" sticky to find the thread) - the consensus seemed to be that filling the lower part of the jacket has no adverse (and possibly a slight positive) effect on cooling.
