Heck, it could be any of that stuff below. The hoses definately develop leaks with age as does the assist cylinder rod seal and the control valve. Gunk it all off and see where it is coming from. If the control valve body to piston clearance is excessive, its not rebuildable.
They also sell a new (not rebuilt) control valve for $250, and a rebuilt for $150. A brand new GM control valve will cost over $400 from a Chevy dealer.

and heck if i get another 60 bucks shipping is free.. so i may just get the valve and new lines..Does anyone know if the stop leak fluid will help at all. Maybe till winter at least? his little tool also helps..
like 6.00 at kragen Man i love it.
For your P/S control valve, I would get in touch with VB&P and have them build you one with the 55# spring installed like they used to come for more road feel instead of the late C3 wimpy 40 pound spring. They used to sell for around $90. You can do a search under Jim Shea, he has discussed this several times before.
over the last month i've replaced the power steering pump and rebuilt the piston and the valve.... NAPA had everything in stock and it all cost me under $100.00
If you blew one of your control valve to assist cylinder hoses (gushing not dripping), you would have power assist in only one direction until (very shortly) you completely ran all of the fluid out and then you would have no power assisted steering. Shortly after that you would most likely damage the internals in the pump from lack of lubrication.
BTW, most stop leak chemicals actually attack rubber seals and cause them to swell. This does stop the leak in a lot of cases. It is not a long term fix. It can cause harm to seals that were good before adding the stop leak.

So you're saying that the local Napa dealer has the rebuilt kits in stock for the control valve?
I was glad to see this tread, since I am also having a problem with the power steering valve on my 70. I was greasing the steering linkage, and went to add to the grease in the fitting on the power steering valve. I was adding grease, and before the joint was full, I noticed some of the grease oozing out of the adjusting screw at the end of the valve.
I had previously noticed a small leak out of the end of the adjusting screw.
Does this mean that my internal seal is bad? I have been afraid to start the car, since I don't want to circulate the grease inside the PS fluid.
