Default Recommendations needed on buying a used interior.

I’ve located someone that is parting out a wrecked ’79 that is the same color as my ’79. I am going to check it out this weekend and bring my car along for comparison purposes.

It’s supposed to be an original interior in good condition. The car had a roll bar in it, so the rear carpet is unusable, which is probably the part that I need the least. One downside is that my seats and door panels have the cloth inserts. I believe the interior of the wrecked car is leather.

Should I risk removing the covers and carpet from the seats? I’m thinking that it may be better to just buy the seats. My seats have 4-inch bolsters. Don’t know about the other car.

Assuming the interior is as claimed, what do you think would be a fair price?

First off I would never buy used carpet........The seats if they are in good condition I would guess would be worth between 200 and 400 bucks...buy ur carpet form an upholstry shop and cut it yourself....That is what I did!!!

Neo, i wouldn't get your hopes to high, after all this interior is the same age as your interior. and if it has the original leather seats, only the middle section is leather, the sides are vinyl, they seem to split on the seam. i think i would try to buy the door panels if they are in good shape, and buy some all leather seat covers from corvette america. just my .02 cents. carpet from ACC ordered thru the Last Detail is $225.

Gary,

Agreed, that is one apprehension that I have. I'd be taking a risk in buying used seats or seat covers, only to have them split a month after I install them. :(

Neo
As you will see, the interior is not the same age of the car, most of it is new, including the seats, which by the way are all leather.....LT

Thanks Larry, I was under the impression that it was the original interior. Do you know how old it is?

Neo,
Not exactly, I bought the car in Bloomington a year ago June, and the guy I bought it from had just completed restoring it, so I guess not more the two or three years old...LT
